We are very excited to announce Operation Penguin!! 

 

Fun fact about penguins: they are flightless birds. However, to borrow a phrase from our friends at the Penguin Project, penguins may not be able to fly, but that doesn’t keep them from soaring! 

We recognize that for a variety of reasons there are veterans for whom the traditonal honor flight experience with the flight to DC & back may not be an option. Have no fear, operation Penguin is here. 

 

What is that? It’s a flightless Honor Flight. 

When? Thursday, Sept 26th 2024

Where? Peoria, Illinois 

How to apply? Fill out a veteran application form online & in the “additional medical comments or concerns “ add Operation Penguin.

What does the day look like? Visiting memorials in Peoria-including the Vietnam traveling memorial wall in East Peoria. A program at the 182nd Air National Guard. Breakfast & lunch. 

Welcome home? Absolutely!  

Do I need a guardian? Yes.

Can my spouse attend? Yes!

For guardians/spouse there will be a $60 fee per person to cover their expenses. 

How long is the day? Approximately 8 hours

If I have already applied for the D.C. flight, can I change my application to this one? Yes, just let us know via email

Can I do both (D.C. & Penguin) ? No.
